About the show

New school, new rules, and a lesson in what it costs to be somebody.

Cady Heron has spent her whole life homeschooled in Africa. Suburban Illinois is a different kind of wilderness. On her first day at North Shore High she discovers a social order with its own predators, its own rules, and a ruling class known as The Plastics.

What starts as a joke, a plan to infiltrate the group and report back, stops being funny somewhere around the time Cady starts winning. The closer she gets to the top, the harder it is to tell the performance from the person, and the friends who helped her build the whole thing are the first ones she loses.

Adapted from the film and the Broadway musical, Mean Girls Jr. hands a sharp, funny, surprisingly generous story to a cast of students, and asks them to play every version of a person they might be tempted to become. Our summer 2026 junior production brought that cast to the stage in Greenwood.
